THE CAPE COBRA
CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA
One bite - and you're hooked!
Just when you think you have seen it all you pack your bike and fly to South Africa. What you are about to experience is one of the most amazing places on the planet. The Cape Cobra means super flowy single trails on majestic wine estates with a rich history dating back over 300 years and perfectly manicured by some of the world’s best trail builders. Dry lunar-like landscapes, thick forests, wilderness, beaches, scorching heat and bitter cold.
You will meet people who are not just passionate but downright crazy about mountain biking and any outdoor activity for that matter. One bite from the Cape Cobra - and you’re hooked!

There are literally hundreds of kilometers of trails all around the Cape Peninsula and the Western Cape of South Africa. Many of them are home to some of the world’s most demanding stage races.
When you ride on these trails on a sunny winter’s day you can see snow capped mountain peaks in the distance, beautiful beaches lie in the other direction and you could be about to drop in on the gnarly and technical UCI XC World Cup course of 2018 on the slopes of the Hottentots-Holland mountains in the historic and famous wine making town of Stellenbosch.
Dry hardpack and rocks, sand and vicious thorns. Single trails covered with pine needles or alongside stunning vineyards that eventually finish at a quaint gourmet restaurant.
Cape Town attracts many mountain bike pros during the European winter who come here to sharpen their trail riding skills and work on their endurance to compete in the upcoming international racing season. What was once a slow starter in terms of mountain biking in the 1990ies when the sport was already huge in other parts of the world, South Africa today is a mountain biking mecca.
On the Cape Cobra tour you will ride between 60 and 75 KM/day with one shorter ride halfway through the tour. Accommodation is at different 4-star boutique style hotels and you will be able to savour the fantastic Capetonian kitchen, taste superb wines and generally enjoy South African hospitality at its best! Your guide is a former MTB and road bike professional and you might even be joined on some rides by a current UCI XC World Cup pro which means you will be in very capable hands at all times!
